Program Coordinator for One Summer Chicago

The Alternative Schools Network, a dynamic non-profit organization located in the Ravenswood area of Chicago, is seeking applicants for the position of Program Coordinator for One Summer Chicago, a program which provides paid summer internships and apprenticeships to youth in various career fields.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the recruitment of youth, determine eligibility and enroll participants in the One Summer Chicago work program;
  • Work closely with community and student groups to assist in the coordination of the program;
  • Create spreadsheets and documents to track data and provide reports; coordinate paperwork, and create and submit reports on a timely basis;
  • Assist and support youth participants in filling out paperwork; collect, record and report the hours of the time that students and coaches work, and ensure hours are reported correctly; assist site coordinators and mentors with enrolling students in direct deposit with their banks;
  • Coordinate individual training for participants and partner with career coaches and job partners to ensure that youth has knowledge and training needed to be successful in their summer positions, and ability to transition successfully to future permanent employment;
  • Responsible for maintaining and recording all paperwork for students’ completion of coursework and certifications received;
  • Maintain a neat and orderly filing system for student and career coach files and records;
  • Anticipate problems and initiate solutions to problem and issues that arise;
  • Identify barriers to students’ success, and identify effective solutions so that students can succeed;
  • Conduct site visits and monitor students’ progress;
  • Assist youth in obtaining CTA Ventra cards;
  • Other related responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Proficient with MS office software;
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills;
  • Must possess strong communication abilities, written, oral and presentation;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Must be detailed oriented and be able to track, create and maintain data and reports.
  • Must be able to travel to various work and off-site locations;
  • Must have an understanding of nonprofits; experience with non-profit work is a plus;
  • Experience with One Summer Chicago preferable
