YS3 Film Festival 2026: Youth Voices. Real Stories. Bigger Futures.
The 2026 YS3 Film Festival, presented by the Alternatives Schools Network (ASN) Youth Scholars Skills & Service Program (YS3) and Project 9, is a citywide celebration of youth creativity and resilience. Funded by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Alternative Schools Network, the festival will take place on August 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM at SoHo House, 113 N Green St, Chicago, IL 60607.
This year’s theme — “Youth Voices. Real Stories. Bigger Futures.” — reflects the mission of YS3: empowering Chicago youth to develop real-world skills, build confidence, and share their lived experiences through film. Students across the city have spent months learning the fundamentals of filmmaking, from scriptwriting and directing to camera operation and sound design.
Their films explore identity, community, challenges, and hope — offering an authentic look into the lives of young people navigating today’s world. The festival provides a platform for these emerging filmmakers to be recognized, celebrated, and supported by educators, families, community partners, and local leaders.
